Mitch and Mark win The Block and take home 744k

Take a look inside the Melbourne home that dazzled the judges, won over fans and earned this pair the big bucks.

The Block‘s 2021 finale started on a terrible note.

Tanya finally admitted to taking that photo of the season’s renovation schedule, and the reserves were set at an astronomical amount.

Four homes were set at $3.5 million, while Kirsty and Jesse’s reserve was a whopping $4.2 million.

With the amatuer renovators having the reserves knocked down just $100k each moments before the auctions, the teams were very pleased for the extra cash after the hammer knocked down.

But it was flamboyant Sydneysiders, Mitch and Mark who won the 2021 title amid a pandemic, and took home a very pretty $644,444 above their $3.4 million reserve, plus an extra $100,000 for winning on auction day!

“Yes, yes, yes!” Mitch exclaimed, while Mark was completely overcome with emotions.

“I am so thrilled we’re all here to celebrate the five fantastic auction results,” host Scotty Cam told the group.

On Instagram, the pair simply wrote: “OMG” alongside a photo of their shocked faces from the day.

But it was Ronnie and Georgia who Scotty called the “true heroes” of the day, after going first in the auction line-up, and foregoing the opportunity to make the most on the day.

Traditionally, whoever goes first doesn’t fair the best.
