Astley Bridge resident plays for 1m in Channel 4s Moneybags show
A SIXTY-year-old woman from Astley Bridge is appearing on Channel 4âs new money game show this week.
Wendy Ramsden, a payroll assistant at Bolton Council, is playing for a share of an incredible £1m, with multiple chances to win.
The show was filmed in the summer, and Wendy was keeping tight lipped on whether she won or not but said she would spend any winnings on âa night out with her friends and a couple of pairs of shoesâ.
But if she did win big, she told show bosses she would buy a new house.
On taking part on the show, she said: âI love a good quiz but I wouldnât describe myself as clever.
âI saw it one afternoon on Facebook and thought âthat looks interestingâ.
âIâm in a contestant group on Facebook, and things come up on there from time to time.
âItâs a really good game with lots of twists and turns and was a brilliant experience.â
Itâs not Wendyâs first time on the nationâs television screens, having previously appeared on Deal or No Deal some years ago.
She added: âI love the whole experience of being in the studio and someone doing your make-up. Being on Deal Or No Deal got me hooked.â
The show was filmed at Dock 10 in Manchester under strict Covid rules where contestants were not able to socialise outside of the studio as usual.
Despite this, Wendy said: âWe became like a little family and are all on a Whatâs App group together and regularly keep in touch.
âThe no hugging thing was hard when people didnât, as thatâs all you wanted to do, like you normally would. â
On host Craig Charles, she said: âI know Craig Charles from Red Dwarf and he was fabulous, so genuine and really good fun.
âThere were times when I nearly wet myself laughing.â
Whoever banks the most cash in each round will compete in the âtriple-headerâ, a tense three-way battle in which whoever grabs â" or steals â" the most cash, will play to win it all in the final.
You can catch up with yesterdayâs episode on Channel 4âs on-demand service.
Moneybags airs on Channel 4 at 3pm on weekdays.
