Police officers graduate to go on the beat

THE thin blue line is set to be strengthened as a cohort of neighbourhood police officers 'graduate' from a new training programme.

Officers attended their Confirmation of Rank ceremony which marked the completion of their training and probation period under the Police Now programme.

They are also the first GMP officers to achieve the level 6 University Graduate Diploma in Policing.

The cohort will continue to support neighbourhood policing across the districts of Greater Manchester, including Bolton.

GMP’s ACC Chris Sykes said: “I am incredibly proud of each and every one of the officers and their outstanding achievements both academically and operationally.

“As GMP continues working to put neighbourhood policing at the centre, our officers will play a vital role in continuing to build on our community engagement work, working alongside our partners in order to tackle crime â€" I have no doubt that all of them will deliver.

“I would like to offer my congratulations to all of these officers and wish them well through their policing career.”
