Pregnant hairdresser refuses Covid-jabbed customers as she feels uncomfortable

A pregnant hairdresser has stirred controversy after saying she would no longer take in vaccinated people in a peculiar bid to "protect my family".

Abi Locock, from Bunbury, Australia, made the mind-boggling request on Facebook as she asked for all those who had had a Covid jab to cancel their appointments.

Posting from her business account, the Sweeney Todd Barber’s Shop, the mum-to-be "sincerely" asked for jabbed people to cancel as "I no longer feel comfortable" seeing them.

“For those clients I have still been seeing, I sincerely ask that if you have had the COVID vaccine could you please cancel your appointment as I am no longer comfortable taking on COVID vaccinated people,” store owner Abi Locock wrote.

“I have to do what’s best for the health of myself and my family.

“I thank everyone for their continued support and with a heavy heart have had to make this decision.”

The post left people scratching their heads while others were outraged by how she seemingly encouraged people to not have a Covid vaccine.

Health Minister Roger blasted her comments saying they are "wrong on so many levels", PerthNow reports.

“We want people to back the science, we want people to do what’s right for the Western Australian community,” he said.

“Get yourself vaccinated, make sure that you can protect yourself, your family and the community.

“These ridiculous assertions and people who take this extraordinary stance are a distraction for the community.

“They’re also dangerous in terms of their attitudes.”

Some people, however, supported her, with one commenting on the now-viral Facebook post saying: "Just informed my hubby and son that it may be time for them to change barbers.

"They'll gladly support you in you endeavours to stand true in your convictions, considering that while jab still in its trial stages there is still lots of uncertainty regarding it for many people."

Others praised her for putting her "baby first" and "standing up for what you believe in".

But others called on her to do "a little more research" as her comments were branded "the dumbest thing I've seen".

One user commented: "The amount of ignorance and stupidity you are exhibiting is breathtaking, feel sorry for your eventual family."

It comes as Australia's Prime Mnister Scott Morrison apologised for a sluggish rollout of the vaccination programme as the country's most populous state recorded its highest number of daily cases in 16 months.

"I'm sorry that we haven't been able to achieve the marks that we had hoped for at the beginning of this year," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra.

Australia has been administering less than 150,000 vaccines each day, well behind other developed nations.

The country was widely lauded for containing the pandemic in 2020, but it has struggled this year to slow the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant even with more than half its 25 million population under a weeks-long lockdown.
