Earlier this month, the French president announced a series of new restrictions, most notably an introduction of a special "health pass" required for visiting public places.

Sputnik is live from Paris, France, where protesters have taken to the streets to oppose the government's new anti-coronavirus measures.

Starting from this week, people visiting museums, theaters, cinemas, festivals, concerts, and amusement parks are required to have a health pass confirming that its holder has either been vaccinated or is COVID-negative.

Next week, the new measure will also apply to visiting restaurants, bars, and shopping centres, as well as to travelling by airplanes and long-distance trains.
