  • Two AFL players in Queensland have been forced to isolate after attending the Wallabies match at Melbourne’s AAMI Stadium on Tuesday night - now declared a tier one exposure site. Click here to read the full story.

But the Saints have been made to pay the price for not putting the Power away when they had the chance, and despite making a sluggish start to this contest, the visitors are still only six points down with just under 8:00 to go before half-time, 2.4.16 to 3.4.22.

Two of St Kilda’s three goals have come as a direct result of shocking Port Adelaide defending.

In the second term, Butler waltzed through a sea of Power jumpers to snap easily from 15m out, and then Ryder gets the first goal of the second quarter after roving direct opponent Lycett’s crumbs in the goal square.

The Saints now lead by 14 points nearing the halfway mark of the second quarter, 3.4.22 to 1.2.8.

1.0.6 is Port Adelaide’s worst first quarter against St Kilda since 2010, and their third-worst first quarter against them in 33 meetings.

But luckily for the Power, they’ve been let off the hook by the Saints, who dominated that opening term, but weren’t able to translate that onto the scoreboard.

St Kilda are leading the inside 50s 15-7 and scoring shots 6-1, yet only lead by 10 points at quarter-time.

The Saints are also dominating the disposals 98-79, clearances 9-5 and contested possessions 34-28.

Port Adelaide are taking the game on a bit more today, playing on often when they get the chance. But they’re being let down by their forward line so far. St Kilda lead by nine points with 3:30 left in the first quarter, 2.3.15 to 1.0.6.

The Saints got the opening goal courtesy of their inspirational captain Steele - who else?

St Kilda lead by two points midway through the first term, 1.2.8 to 1.0.6.

    Leading disposals: Burton 5, T.McKenzie 5, Ross 5, Lienert 4, Steele 4

Rusty start to this game with just two behinds scored so far after eight minutes, both by St Kilda.

Ryder and Lycett are going head-to-head in the ruck while Dunstan has gone to Wines, Aliir has started on Marshall, Wilkie is on Georgiades, Trent McKenzie is taking King and Howard has the job on the Dixon.
